Comparing Lip Crayons

I'm sure everyone has seen or heard the hype on lip crayons. Clinique, Tarte, and Revlon have all entered the market with their own product. I figured I would share my opinion on which is the best product for you.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, Clinique Chubby Stick in Mighty Mimosa, Tarte LipSurgence in Sweet (limited edition color)
Swatched in the same order as picture above

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stain is obviously the cheapest out of the three, ranging anywhere from 7-9 dollars. It also has the least amount of product at .095 oz. It has a peppermint smell which I don't like because peppermint oil tends to dry out your lips. The Revlon lip crayons have the least amount of shine but it is the longest lasting, hence the name "stain".

This is Revlon's color in Honey on my lips (please note I have naturally red lips so all of these colors will tend to look the same). Honey is a light mauve berry color.

Clinique Chubby Stick (I hate that name!) is the most moisturizing of the three. It has no scent so those with sensitive skin will like this. I prefer the formulation of Clinique the best but the color is so sheer it's almost not worth it and it doesn't stay on for that long. This contains .10 oz and costs $16.

Clinique's Mighty Mimosa is a sheer pale pink color

Finally, Tarte's LipSurgence in Sweet is the most expensive of the three at $24 with .10 oz of product. It too has a peppermint smell which could be problematic but it feels pretty moisturizing. I find the LipSurgence to have the most glossy look and the wear time is slightly better than the Clinique Chubby Stick.

Tarte's Lip Surgence in Sweet is a light pink color with gold shimmer in it.

My overall opinion is stick with the cheaper option. Though Revlon isn't as moisturizing you can always add a lip balm on top. I think they have decent color payoff, they have the longest wear time, and at $8 you just can't beat it. Clinique is the second best option because it doesn't have the irritating peppermint oils in it. Please don't waste your money on Tarte's LipSurgence unless you get it in a value pack which is how I got my hands on it. $24 is an outrageous price when clearly, you can find a dupe with the Revlon colors.

I hope this helps. Have you tried any crayon lip colors? What are your favorites? I would love to share information!

Have a lovely day!
