It seems I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect skin care routine. I think I have finally found one that I can keep for a while. A little background on my skin type; I have dry skin with the monthly hormonal breakout. I thought I was doing the right things for my skin but when I wore certain types of foundations my dry spots were so visible I would have to wash it off and use a tinted moisturizer.
I try to use natural products because I don't like the idea of putting a lot of chemicals in to my body. Unfortunately, a lot of the natural products I tried to use didn't moisturize well enough and a lot of them contained irritating oils and fragrances that would cause little bumps on my face.
Paula's Choice was a brand I was introduced to by my mother. I was always hesitant because I knew they contained some ingredients I wasn't too fond of. On a whim I decided, what the heck, I'll go for it and I ordered most of her Resist line. The Resist line is ideal for those who have dry skin and are concerned about aging. It doesn't contain parabens, dyes, or perfumes. They use recyclable packaging and they don't test on animals. I also think the price is unbelievable; it isn't super cheap like drugstore products but I was used to spending a fortune on skincare so I think this is a bargain. So what are my thoughts on each product? Continue reading and find out...
The Resist Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser is a cream cleanser that doesn't strip your skin but still leaves it feeling clean. It doesn't remove all traces of makeup so you may want to use a makeup remover or toner with this cleanser. It contains 6.4 fl. oz and costs $16.95
I use the Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner after I cleanse. It is a milky liquid that claims to rebuild collagen and reduces the signs of aging. I'm not sure if it actually does that but it feels really nice on my skin, doesn't sting, and removes the last traces of my makeup. This toner contains 4 fl. oz and costs $18.95.
The Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol is the standout product in my opinion. It's a light weight lotion that claims to reduce the signs of aging and contains antioxidants and collagen to repair skin. This moisturizer has saved my skin. My face is no longer is dry and I definitely think it has improved the overall appearance of my skin. It isn't greasy at all but you can definitely feel it sink in and really hydrate your skin. This moisturizer contains 1.7 fl. oz and costs $22.95.
For my treatment on most days I use the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA lotion with Salicylic Acid. I use this as my main chemical exfoliant due to my hormonal outbreaks. It doesn't prevent them completely but I have noticed that the amount has diminished and aren't as big and deep. This product contains 3.3 fl. oz and costs $19.95.
Finally, we have the Resist Weekly Resurfacing Treatment with 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid. I have acne scars and uneven skin so I wanted something that would help combat that problem. This is a liquid exfoliant and you put a dime size amount in to your palm and rub it on your face after you cleanse and tone. It claims to brighten dull and uneven skin tone, increase firmness, and repair damage. I have definitely noticed a difference when I use this. It does sting a little but it goes away almost instantly. If you have super sensitive skin you can rinse it off after 15 minutes but I just leave it on. This contains 2 fl. oz and costs $28.95.
Overall, I give Paula's Choice products an "A" because it has done wonders for my skin. They have regular sales where you can get everything at a discount and often include free shipping. If you are unsure of what products are right for your skin type you can chat with a representative and they will recommend products and even send you samples to try free of charge.
